WASHINGTON — Google paid tribute on Friday to Jacques Cousteau on what would have been the French undersea explorer’s 100th birthday.

The Internet giant replaced its colorful search page Google logo with a drawing of a scuba diver.

Placing the cursor over the drawing reveals the phrase “Happy 100th Birthday Jacques Cousteau!”

Cousteau, who died in 1997, would have been 100 years old on Friday.

Cousteau was well known in the United States for his TV programs and his ship called Calypso used for diving and filming the underwater marine habitat.

A 91 Freeway closure got up due to the 91 Freeway accident where a tanker truck overturned and exploded. Crash occurred at 10:30 a.m., according to the California Highway Patrol. No injuries were reported though

The CHP closed both sides of Riverside (91) Freeway. The westbound side was closed at the Corona (71) Expressway & eventually opened around 3 p.m.

Bruins added 1 defenseman at Wednesday’s trade deadline & had traded away another, making Dennis Seidenberg acquire from Florida Panthers & dealing Derek Morris to Phoenix Coyotes.

“From what I know of [Seidenberg], he’s one of those guys that plays hard,” Bruins coach Claude Julien said.

R&B star Beyonce Knowles has emerged as the most successful musician of this century’’s first decade in America in a new list. Compiled by Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA), the list has the ”Single Ladies” singer topping both the albums and video certifications and ringtone certifications countdown.

The 28-year-old star has landed 64 gold and platinum certifications for sales of albums and videos and a further 19 for ringtones, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Eagles came out to be the topper among all music groups with 48 total gold and platinum awards, while pop icon Michael Jackson led the male solo artists” list with 44.

Gold awards are presented for sales of 500,000 albums, digital songs or ringtones, and platinums are handed out to artists who pass the one million mark.(PTI)
